Privacy Policy

KidsLearnCash is a family money tracker. This policy explains exactly what we store, what we don't, and how to get rid of it. It covers the website (kidslearncash.com) and the KidsLearnCash iOS app.

The short version: we store the family data you type in so it can sync between your devices. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking tools, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone. You can delete everything yourself, at any time, from inside the app.

What we collect

Data	Why
Your email address	To create your account and sign you in. If you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive the email address from them and nothing more.
The family data you enter — kid names (or nicknames), balances, transactions, chores, goals, and wishlist items	This is the app. It's stored so your balances survive a refresh and sync across your devices.
Kid PINs, stored only as a one-way hash	So a kid can sign in to see their own money. We never store a PIN we could read.
Optional payment handles (PayPal, Venmo, Apple Cash)	Only if you enter them, so relatives know where to send a gift contribution. These appear on any wishlist link you choose to share.

What we deliberately don't collect

No analytics or tracking. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising SDK, no third-party tracker, and no cross-site tracking of any kind.
No advertising. We show no ads, so there is no ad profile to build.
No bank or card details. KidsLearnCash is a ledger, not a bank. It never connects to a real financial account, and there is nothing to link.
No location tracking. If you use the optional "use my location" button to pick your sales-tax state, your browser returns a coarse location, we convert it to a state, and we discard the coordinates. We never store them.
No contacts, photos, or microphone access.

Children's privacy

KidsLearnCash is designed for a parent or guardian to set up and control. Accounts are created by adults; kids get PIN access to a view of their own money within the family account you control.

We ask for as little about a child as possible: a name and the numbers you choose to record. A nickname or first initial works fine — nothing checks it. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children for our own purposes, we do not profile children, and we do not serve them advertising. If you believe a child has entered information you'd like removed, delete it in the app or contact us and we'll remove it.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which hosts it on Google's servers in the United States. Firebase acts as our data processor; its handling is governed by Firebase's privacy documentation. Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted by security rules so that, in normal use, only your account can read or write your family's document.

When data leaves our app

There are three cases, all of them driven by something you do:

Importing a product from a link. To fetch a product's name, price, and picture, the app sends that product URL to a link-preview service (Microlink) or requests the retailer's page directly. Only the URL is sent — no account or family information.
The in-app shop browser (iOS). Browsing a retailer's site inside the app is ordinary web browsing: that retailer receives the request and applies its own privacy policy and cookies. We don't read or store your browsing history.
Links you choose to share. A wishlist or chore-board link you share is deliberately public to anyone holding it. It shows only what that page needs — the kid's name as you entered it, the items, and any payment handles you added. It never exposes your email, your PINs, or your balances. You can revoke a share link at any time.

Deleting your data

You're in control, and you don't need to ask us:

Individual items — delete any transaction, chore, goal, or kid in the app.
Your whole account — in the iOS app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. On the web, sign in and use the account section in Settings. This permanently removes your account and your family's data.
Share links — revoke any wishlist, chore-board, or kid access link in Settings.

Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Residual copies may persist briefly in routine backups before being overwritten.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, note it in the app.
